In Mexico, the concept of death—and all the traditions that revolve around it—is atypical. Literary skulls constitute, through popular verses, part of the folklore linked to the Day of the Dead celebrations. These Calaveras cantaditas or rhymes about death describe the passage of the skinny girl through the world of men and ironically highlight the qualities and defects of our friend la catrina.
